I feel like such a tourist! So many things to take pictures of. I don't want to make a spectacle of myself so I try to snap a quick picture and be on my way. We were busted this time! I couldn't reisist a picture of the grapes! The nice man who lives here was on his way home on his bicycle and stopped us to chat. Poor Megan gets to do all the chatting, her Bulgarian is quite impressive! I just stand there with the deer in headlights look on my face when people talk to me. I can only imagine how Megan felt when she first got here.
This is interesting. This is how the Bulgarians remember/honor the deceased. Most of the walls at the bus stops are covered with these. They tell about the person, when they died, and how long ago. You will also find these on the doors of the homes they lived in. Some how this small billboard ended up being covered.
This is the church in the village where Megan teaches. It was locked so we couldn't go into it.
The storks living on the top of the church!
A cherry tree outside of the church! The cherries were great! Also hidden in the tree were a lot of the red and white bracelets, that were tied there for luck when people saw their first stork of the year.
The medical center. (It looked a little sterile to me.)
The gates to the retirement homes. One of the ladies from Megan's class there was very chatty! She even spoke a couple of words of English to me!
This is the Mayor's office/Post Office.
After our walk around and the tour of the school we went to a cafe and sat in the airconditioning and had a Coke while we waited for the bus to come back. Time to go back to the city.
